RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Prepare and cook farm to table lunch offerings
  • Prepare and cook buffet style food for small weekend evening events
  • Prepare stocks and value added items
  • Inform other cooks and deli staff about ingredients used for proper labeling
  • Meet department goals for sales, margin, labor and customer service
  • Maintain kitchen in sanitary and orderly condition
  • Trash removal and dishwashing as needed
  • Follow safety, storage and labeling procedures
  • Participate in periodic inventory counts
  • Preparing requests for food, ingredients, and supplies order
  • Receive orders

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience preferred
  • Demonstrates ability to follow through on commitments
  • Demonstrates ability to handle multiple demands
  • Ability to give clear instructions
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $11.00 to $13.00 /hour

Summer Internship

We are accepting application for an internship for the 2018 season, which begins June 1st. This is an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of livestock farming, berry and apple cultivation, and a variety of farm maintenance skills including carpentry and plumbing as well as basic butchery skills. Full Time Position: approximately 40+ hours/week

Regular responsibilities include:

  • Care of pigs, cows, goats, chickens, and turkeys
  • Fence repair and pasture/fence line mowing
  • Assisting with farrowing
  • Farmers market sales
  • Equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Repairing water lines and electric fencing
  • Poultry processing and cutting
  • Operation of equipment such as tractors and skid steer
  • Hauling livestock
  • General landscaping duties such as mowing, weed-eating, mulching, etc.
  • Application of pest control measures for organic produce
  • Hand weeding/mulching berries and asparagus
  • Leading field trips and tours
  • Basic butchering and kitchen tasks
  • Vacuum sealing and packaging
  • Fundamentals of deli work and customer service

Compensation offered:

  • Interns are provided on-farm housing including utilities and firewood for heat.
