Pastured Chicken...is so much better
Pastured chicken is tender and flavorful. They are great cooked whole as a roaster or cut into pieces and frozen for smaller meals later.
One day old chicks are delivered to the local post office where the postal employees are happy to see us take home the chirping birds! Once back at the farm we brood them on pasture in a large enclosed portable house. At about 2-3 weeks we remove the ends of the house allowing the chickens to explore the outside world of grass and insects. Our chickens are fed grain purchased from a local feed mill. As of right now buying organic grain is not an economical option in Western North Carolina, but as organic infrastructure emerges we hope to patronize those farmers and be able to provide a organic product to our customers at a reasonable cost.

Processing
We plan to process 600 broilers this year. Whole chickens usually weigh between 3-6 lbs and will be available for purchase this summer.
